This Is What Democracy Looks Like!

What does democracy look like? Exercising our democratic freedoms takes many forms. The following slideshows show some of the way we exercise our freedom of speech.

I use the Kodak Easyshare site to share the photos. The Kodak sharing is free, but the nice thing is that if you want to buy prints you are able to. I don't make any money from them.

If you'd like to link your photographs as an example of what democracy looks like, post the information in a comment below. I'll then add a link to your photos from this book.

Sacramento - May 25

After my union's lobby day in Sacramento, I had the opportunity to participate in a rally to protest Governor Schwarzenegger's continuing attacks on working families. I was amazed by how many people attended.

San Francisco - April 6

After work on April 6 I headed into San Francisco to join thousands of others as we protested Governor Schwarzenegger's attacks on the benefits of firefighters and peace officers.

Pelosi, Lofgren, and Dean - October, 2004

Prior to the November 2004 election, I attended a fundraiser in San Jose where Nancy Pelosi, Zoe Lofgren, and Howard Dean were in attendance. All very interesting speakers.

Jerry McNerney Fundraiser - 2005

In the spring I attended a fundraiser on the other side of the bay for Jerry McNerney. He's one of the Democratic candidates for the 11th Congressional District. We had a nice walk looking at wildflowers at Russian Ridge.

Hayward Demos Democratic Club - Fall 2005

My Democratic club hosted our 32nd annual Fall Festival fund-raising event at the home of Alameda County Supervisor, Gail Steele. We raised almost $5,000 and a good time was had by all.

Washington D.C. - September 24, 2005

I attended the Peace March in our nation's capitol on September 24. This album contains photographs with an overview of the signs and people marching for peace and justice. This was an incredible experience.

SF Peace Rally - March 2005

Living in the San Francisco Bay Area with the convenience of BART makes travelling to the city for visibility events easy. This is another amazing rally for peace I attended. There was a good crowd and we stayed mostly dry.

Save Social Security - April 4, 2005

In April I joined many others to march to save social security. Many of our parents and grand parents have worked hard all their lives and Social Security is often the only things that keeps food on their tables.

The march for women's lives was an incredible and uplifting experience. To be with so many people coming together to support our common values.
